James Tsai (Violin/Viola Instructor)

Mr. James Tsai began studying piano at the age of seven and violin at the age of nine in New York. After graduating with a Bachelors of Music, he continued post-bacchelorate studies in orchestra and chamber at San Francisco State University and San Francisco Conservatory of Music. James served as section violinist for various symphonies and orchestras throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as well as holding a studio of violin students. Upon receiving his Masters of Music Performance from Notre Dame de Namur University, Mr. Tsai relocated to Irvine to devote himself to full time teaching.
Violin instructor for over 18 years, James is a advocate for an equivalency of common core in music; making sure students understands the “why” behind every technique and the story behind each music. He also teaches a balanced music theory to further enhance student’s understanding towards their violin studies. James is also well versed in Tustin and Irvine School’s music programs and requirements.
Mr. Tsai currently serves as Certificate of Merit (CM) String Chair and Board of Directors for Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC).
