Shirley Chang

Shirley Chang received her degree in violin performance at Indiana University (Bloomington) where she obtained extensive training from renowned pedagogue, Mimi Zweig.  She obtained her MM and DMA from the University of Washington School of Music, writing her dissertation on The Suzuki Principles of Violin Teaching.

Mrs. Chang has had a wide range of performing experiences.  She has held concertmaster positions at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute (under Alexander Schneider) and the Saddleback Symphony Orchestra, assistant concertmaster with the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra and has appeared as soloist with the Moorpark College Orchestra.   Mrs. Chang’s orchestral experiences further include collaborating with Pacific, Long Beach, Ventura, Santa Barbara Symphony orchestras as well as the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra.

Throughout the last two decades, Mrs. Chang has been sharing her love of music by teaching beginning to advanced students in individual, group, and chamber music lessons.  Her students have received such honors as being finalists and medal recipients in the MTAC Bach Festivals and VOCE competitions.
