Michael Selfridge

Michael Selfridge is a professional bassist based in the southern California area. Born into a musical family, Michael first picked up the bass when he switched from trombone to the electric bass at age thirteen. This newfound passion for the bass eventually lead him to pick up the double bass in high school. Soon after graduating from Diamond Bar High School, Michael was accepted to California State University Fullerton with a full scholarship. While at Cal State Fullerton Mr. Selfridge studied double bass under the instruction of Frederic Tinsley and Brian Johnson. Michael recently completed his studies at California State University Fullerton, receiving a bachelors in both Music and Philosophy. Michael plays regularly throughout Southern California, performing with his own group Zetune, Southern California Philharmonic, the Rio Honda Symphony, the Corona Symphony, as well as various jazz engagements. Michael has also performed and participated in TEDxOrangecoast addition of the TED talk series. Most recently, Mr. Selfridge participated in the 11 th annual Bucharest International Jazz completion With the
Mina Choi Trio in Bucharest, Romania. In his free time, Michael Selfridge enjoys exercise, postmodern and existential philosophy, and good company.
