Hui-Ling Hsu, violist, began her music study in Taipei when she was five years old.  She was the winner of the Taipei Viola Competition and a prize winner of the Viola Competition of Taiwan. 

Ms. Hsu completed her Master’s degree and Artist Diploma at San Diego State University where she studied with Chi-Yuan Chen, the Principal Violist of the San Diego Symphony. She has participated in master classes taught by Kim Kashkashian, James Dunham, Steve Tenebom, Helen Callus, Daniel Phillips, and Colin Carr. 

      Ms. Hsu is also a passionate educator. Many of her students are winners of competitions and honor ensemble participants, such as American String Teachers Association (ASTA), Southwestern Youth Music Festival (SYMF), National Association for Music Education’s (NAfME) All-National Orchestra, Music for All’s Honor Orchestra of America, CODA All-State Orchestra, SCSBOA All-Southern California Orchestra, Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, and Irvine Honor Orchestra.  Ms. Hsu has taught as a faculty member of the Irvine Music Festival since 2019.
